Big-company AI, sized for Main Street.

AdaptivVentures is an independent, one-person consultancy for owner-run Midwest businesses. We find where AI genuinely pays off — and we say so plainly when it doesn't.

The founder

Who you'll work with

Ian Dickson, founder of AdaptivVentures

AdaptivVentures is Ian Dickson — a Chicago-based technologist with a career spent inside enterprise IT, helping organizations evaluate, buy, and deploy cloud and AI platforms. He's an AWS Certified AI Practitioner and a graduate of Ohio State's Fisher College of Business, and he has watched Fortune 500 companies pay Fortune 500 prices for work that Main Street businesses need just as badly — and can't buy at that price.

That's the gap AdaptivVentures exists to close. When you hire AdaptivVentures, you work with Ian directly: the person who scopes the work is the person who does it, and the person who answers the phone afterward. No account managers, no handoffs, no junior bench learning on your invoice.

Why AdaptivVentures

Most AI consulting is built for Fortune 500 budgets and Fortune 500 problems. Main Street businesses — owner-run firms and family companies up to about 200 employees — need a different kind of partner. One that understands the operating realities of the specialty trades, professional services, clinics, restaurants, insurance agencies, and local retail.

AdaptivVentures was founded to serve exactly that market. We pair senior operator experience with a deliberately small model, so you get direct access to the person doing the work.

Our thesis is simple: AI value compounds when it is wired into the places where your business already makes money. We help you find those places first.

How we work

Three principles shape every project, from the first visit through long-term support.

Plain-language guidance

No jargon, no vendor-speak. Every recommendation is written so you, your team, and your accountant can act on it.

Vendor-agnostic

We do not resell platforms or take referral fees. Our advice reflects what is best for your stack, not which partnership we are incentivized to push.

Outcome-focused

Every project ends with a prioritized plan tied to revenue, cost, or risk — not a slide deck that dies on the shared drive.

Let's talk about what AI should mean for your business.

A short note about your business is all it takes. We'll point you to the right starting point — and tell you plainly if there isn't one yet.
